BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – In the final matchup of the 2017 Runnin' Bulldog Invitational, Gardner-Webb fell in three sets to Wofford (17-25, 15-25, 18-25).
 
Wofford (5-2) won its third match of the weekend, attacking at a .193 percentage, while Gardner-Webb (2-4) was held to a .063 attacking percentage.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs were led in kills by Kaelyn Dyson, Keira Moore, and Nicole Celarek, who each had five smashes.  Moore also led the team with three blocks, while Emma Milstead led the way with 11 digs.
 
The Terriers were led on the attack by Catie Cronister, who had 12 kills for the match.  Lorissa King and Colleen Reilly each had two blocks to lead the team, while Taylor Gill collected a team-high ten digs.
 
Gardner-Webb held an early 5-4 lead in the first set after a kill by Joy Rhodes, but Wofford would score six unanswered points to take a 10-5 lead and control of the set.  The Terriers would go to take the opening set by a score of 25-17.
 
Wofford would dominate much of the second set, opening the stanza with an 11-3 run.  GWU would stage a late 5-1 run to pull within nine points at 23-14, capped by a block from both Dyson and Moore, but the Terriers would go on to take the set by a 25-15 score and a 2-0 advantage.
 
The Terriers would open the third set much like the second, going on an 11-3 run.  The 'Dogs would go on a 7-2 run midway through the set to pull within three points at 16-13 after an Amanda Sahm service ace, but they would not be able to close the gap any further, as Wofford would go on to take the set by a 25-18 score and take the overall match win.
 
After the match, the Runnin' Bulldog Invitational All-Tournament team was named.  The individuals named to the team were:
