Swimming Falls to UNCW on Senior Day

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs men and women's swimming teams competed in their final home meet of the 2018 season, facing off against the UNCW Seahawks on senior night.

The Runnin' Bulldogs and head coach Mike Simpson honored the seniors within the program before the start of the meet, which saw the men fall 168-94 and the women take a 147-115 defeat.

"Both the men and women got off to a great start," Simpson stated. "Our medleys were both touched out by hundreths, but swam great. Unfortunately, the themee of the day was getting touched out. We need to learn from today and finish with more passion. Our distance crew did a nice job today as well."

Tessa Walsh (100 Yard Breaststroke) and Whitney Peters (100 Yard Breaststroke) also won events. Senior Lili Toth recorded a third-place finish in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, just three seconds behind the winner.

The Runnin' Bulldogs men's squad kicked off the meet with a victory in the fourth event of the morning, as junior Peter Wakeley swam the 1000 Yard Freestyle in less than ten minutes, turning in a time of 9:45.20.
