RADFORD, Va. –
Kylee Garrison posted a double-double on the evening, leading Gardner-Webb in both kills and digs, yet the Runnin' Bulldogs would drop a 3-0 decision at Radford in Big South Conference play on Friday night.
Gardner-Webb (7-15, 1-8 Big South) had 30 kills on 102 attempts, attacking at a .147 rate, while Radford (15-3, 7-2 Big South) collected 51 kills on 106 swings, for a robust .349 attacking percentage.
"I am disappointed in our effort and spirit as a team tonight," said GWU head coach
Leo Sayles following the match. "Radford is too good a team to show up and not bring our best effort. Although we saw good effort from
Kylee Garrison, and
Karen Morris did a great job from the bench, we did not see consistent effort from the team as a whole."
Garrison paced the Runnin' Bulldog attack, collecting 11 kills on 29 swings. She also had a team-best 11 digs.
Amanda Sahm led GWU with 19 assists, and
Hannah Donaldson and
Alexandria Roycraft each had a pair of blocks to lead the team.
Mallory McKnight and Stephanie Neast each had 11 kills to lead the Highlanders, while Haley Kleespies provided a match-high 43 assists.
Radford was led in digs by Grace Green with 12, while Kleespies and McKnight both had a team-best two blocks.
Gardner-Webb travels to Hampton for its next matchup, taking place tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
