CAMDEN, S.C. –
Steffen Smith led Gardner-Webb men's golf Saturday and Sunday at the 2018 Camden Collegiate Invitational Tournament, as the Runnin' Bulldogs finished ninth as a team.
The tournament was held on the 6,455-yard (Par 70) Camden County Club course.
Smith finished sixth individually, sinking 10 birdies over 54 holes – which ranked second for the tournament. The junior standout sat at 3-under par after two rounds on Saturday and held on for sixth after a tough Sunday (+7).
In addition to Smith, Gardner-Webb saw freshman
Zack Byers (74-73-75-222) finish tied for 24th and
Jake Scruggs (74-73-78-225) tied for 33rd.
Jonathan Henry (76-71-85-232) and
Miles Albright (77-73-82-232) rounded out the scoring for Gardner-Webb in a tie for 49th.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will wrap up the fall season November 4-6 at the CSU Kiawah Intercollegiate on Kiawah Island, S.C.
