Women’s Swimming Falls to Campbell, 147-112, Friday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's swimming team had four first-place results, but would drop a 147-112 to visiting Campbell on Friday afternoon at Bost Pool.
 
The meet began with the 200-yard medley relay, which saw the team of Charity Bennett, Whitney Peters, Tessa Walsh, and Audrey Robinson place second with a time of 1:49.20.
 
Morgan VanderSchaaf took home a first-place result in the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 10:42.74.
 
In the 200-yard freestyle, Miranda Johns placed second at 1:59.55, followed by Spencer Lucas in third at 2:00.23 and Mary Traylor in fourth at 2:00.82.
 
Laura Wakeley placed third in the 100-yard backstroke, timing in at 1:02.21, followed by Charity Bennett in fourth at 1:02.34
 
Whitney Peters earned a second-place result in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.62.
 
In the 200-yard butterfly, Tessa Walsh timed in at 2:08.36 to earn a third-place finish.  She was followed by Mary Traylor in fourth at 2:10.57.
 
Audrey Robinson and Jennifer Jackson finished third and fourth respectively in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 24.57 second and 25.17 seconds.  The also had the same results in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 54.91 seconds and 54.92 seconds.
 
Mary Traylor placed third in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:09.47, followed by Laura Wakeley at 2:13.56.
 
Whitney Peters took home a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:29.47.
 
Spencer Lucas finished first in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:14.64.  Morgan VanderSchaaf placed second with a time of 5:15.61.
 
Tessa Walsh placed third in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 58.60 seconds.
 
Gardner-Webb had the top three results in the 200-yard IM, as Carol Zangla finished first with a time of 2:13.15, followed by Anna Banick at 2:21.96 and Whitney Peters at 2:27.17.
 
GWU finished the meet with the three best results in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Spencer Lucas, Jennifer Jackson, Mary Traylor, and Audrey Robinson placed first at 3:42.19, followed by Carol Zangla, Morgan VanderSchaaf, Kelli Croft, and Miranda Johns at 3:50.36, and Hannah Carter, Ashely Cesaro, Madolyn Aucremann and Kate Arceneaux at 3:57.74.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Friday, October 26, taking on Liberty, BYU, and Old Dominion in a two-day meet hosted by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
