
Swimming Wraps Up Competition at Fall Frenzy Invitational Sunday Evening

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb swimming finished competition in the three-day Sheraton/Le Meridien Fall Frenzy Invitational on Sunday at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
In the women's 1,650-yard freestyle, Morgan VanderSchaaf clocked in at 17:47.70 to earn a 13th place result.
Will Anderson led GWU in the men's 1,650-yard freestyle, placing 21st with a time of 17:10.90. Thomas Peden finished in 23rd, timing in at 17:16.55, while Justin Conklin placed 28th at 17:50.76 and Nick Probosz placed 31st at 18:07.27.
Mary Traylor paced the 'Dogs in the women's 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 2:08.68 to bring home a 15th place result.
In the men's 200-yard backstroke, Joshua Clarke timed in at 1:57.84 to place 21st, while John O'Connell timed in at 1:59.69 to earn a 24th place finish.
Joshua Clarke led the way in the men's 100-yard freestyle, placing 19th with a time of 47.81 seconds. Kevin Plewniak finished 23rd at 48.25 seconds.
Whitney Peters placed 12th with a time of 2:24.18 in the women's 200-yard breaststroke. Miranda Johns finished in 23rd place with a time of 2:31.57.
In the men's 200-yard breaststroke, Jordan Mintz finished ninth overall, clocking in at 2:06.68. Christian Jann placed 21st at 2:13.98.
Mary Traylor led the team in the women's 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 13th place with a time of 2:06.33. Tessa Walsh placed 15th at 2:08.88.
Peter Wakeley earned a tenth-place finish in the men's 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 1:53.97. Cullen Fields timed in at 1:56.54 to finish 16th overall.
In the women's 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Jennifer Jackson, Blake Broullire, Morgan VanderSchaaf, and Spencer Lucas timed in at 3:38.42, taking home a 13th place finish. The team of Lindsey Wright, Charity Bennett, Whitney Peters, and Anna Banick placed 20th at 3:45.24.
The grouping of Tim Bennett, Brady Fields, Joshua Clarke, and Peter Wakeley earned a seventh-place result in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay, timing in at 3:08.96. Seggio Bernardina, Kevin Plewniak, Dowdy Sarvis, and Chase Mattingly placed 17th with a time of 3:14.41.
Overall, the women's squad placed sixth with 445 total points, while the men's team placed seventh with 547 points. Queens University took home both the women's and men's titles.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Saturday, January 12 as the Runnin' Bulldogs will host Wingate. Action is set for a 1:00 pm start time from Bost Pool.
