Valentine Limauge Named Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE – Thanks to a pair of wins last week, Valentine Limauge was announced today as the Big South Conference's women's tennis Freshman of the Week.
Limauge, a Brussels, Belgium native earned both her victories in the Runnin' Bulldogs match against the Charlotte 49ers.
At No. 2 doubles, Limauge and her partner, Sarah Rieckmann, won 6-3 over Charlotte's Pierina Imparato and Emma Scott. Limauge then faced off against Megan Smith in singles action, playing in the No. 5 position. The tightly contested match went three sets and saw the freshman pull away for the victory. Limauge took the opening set, 7-6, before dropping set two, 1-6. She earned a 10-8 win in the final set to secure the victory.
For the year, Limauge is 3-2 in singles play, with all her matches being played in the No. 5 slot. Her other singles wins were a 6-1, 6-1 defeat of Limestone's Allison Walsh on February 9th and 7-5, 6-3 victory over Queens University of Charlotte's Hannah Lehfeldt yesterday afternoon.
In doubles play, Limauge was been paired with Rieckmann for five matches at No. 2 doubles, compiling a 2-4 overall record.
Limauge and the Runnin' Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday, March 1, against the Wofford Terriers. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the John E. Reeves Tennis Center.
