HIGH POINT, N.C. – Gardner-Webb had two competitors in the heptathlon at he Bill Webb Combined Events Classic at High Point University's Vert Stadium, as Taylor Hotchkiss finished in sixth place, followed by Ashleigh Cleveland in seventh place.
 
Hotchkiss finished with a career-best total of 4,104 points, while Cleveland earned 3,850 total points.
 
In the 100-meter hurdles, Hotchkiss placed first, timing in at 14.92 seconds.  Cleveland finished seventh, clocking in at 15.88 seconds.
 
Cleveland earned a fourth place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.44 meters.  Hotchkiss placed seventh at 1.41 meters, tying her personal record.
 
In the shot put, Cleveland ranked sixth with a distance of 8.84 meters, while Hotchkiss placed eleventh with a mark of 7.06 meters.
 
Hotchkiss set a new PR in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line in 26.50 seconds, while Cleveland placed eighth at 27.70 seconds.
 
In the long jump, Hotchkiss finished in third place at 5.14 meters, while Cleveland followed in fourth with a jump of 4.88 meters.
 
Both Hotchkiss and Cleveland set new PRs in the javelin, as Hotchkiss finished in fifth with a mark of 28.08 meters, and Cleveland placed seventh at 26.19 meters.
 
In the 800-meter run, Hotchkiss clocked in with a career-best time of 2:27.84 to finish in fifth, while Cleveland finished in seventh with a time of 2:44.24.
 
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Friday, April 6 at the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point, N.C.
