Scholl, Hurrion Ranked 67th in Latest ITA Doubles Poll
April 10, 2018 | Men's Tennis
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Maximilian Scholl and Millen Hurrion, who have teamed together at No. 1 doubles for the majority of the 2017-18 season, entered the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Doubles poll ranked 67th today.
Scholl, a junior from Stuttgart, Germany, and Hurrion, a freshman from Weymouth, England, hold an 11-2 overall record this year and are 8-2 in the spring season. The pair is currently riding a three-game winning streak and most recently defeated the then 38th-ranked pairing of Henry Patten and Olly Cull of UNC Asheville.
In the fall, Scholl and Hurrion won the Charlotte A draw by going 3-0 in the finals and defeating teams from Wofford, Charlotte and Vanderbilt.
"I knew all along they could be a special pairing but held off for a little while because I needed to spread them out to help the team," said head coach Mike Griffith. "However, I quickly learned the best way they could help us was to play in the No.1 position together, and they have been on a roll since. The beauty about these two guys is they will play the whole year together next year and get a chance to see just how far they can go. I'm looking forward to seeing them play at the conference tournament and continuing the momentum they have going."
To date, the Big South Conference has had four different players ranked in the International Tennis Association Rankings and three separate doubles teams that have earned a ranking.
