Box Score FARMVILLE, Va. – The Gardner-Webb women's team ended the regular season with positive momentum by defeating the Longwood Lancers, 5-2, on Saturday.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (4-13, 1-7 Big South Conference) quickly clinched the doubles point by taking two out of the three matches.
Sandra Bolstad and Miljana Ristic won at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, to begin the day, and Gardner-Webb clinched the point when Daniela Naupari and Paula Romero were victorious at No. 3, 6-3.
The Runnin' Bulldogs entered singles play with a 1-0 lead and won at No. 3 through No. 6 singles to win the match, 5-2.
Ristic and Naupari started off with a pair of wins for Gardner-Webb in the No. 3 and No. 4 flights respectively. Both players won in just two sets, with Ristic winning, 6-3, 6-1 and Naupari taking the two sets, 6-1, 6-1.
The Lancers won at No. 1 singles, but Valentine Limauge clinched the match for the 'Dogs with a 6-3, 6-2Â victory in the No. 5 position.
After Longwood won its second singles match, Romero ended the day with a victory in the No. 6 flight.
Romero and the rest of the Runnin' Bulldogs will turn their attention to the Big South Conference tournament, which runs from Wednesday, April 18 through Saturday, April 21.
