BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Head women's tennis coach Jim Corn has announced the addition of University of Montana transfer Milica Panic for the 2018-19 season.
Panic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, played her freshman and sophomore seasons for the Grizz, seeing time on the court in both singles and doubles competition. She joins incoming freshman Adrienne Vesely, who will come to Gardner-Webb from Plano, Texas.
"We are thrilled to add Milica to our team," said head coach Jim Corn. "She has shown that she has what it takes to play collegiate tennis at a high level. We are excited to welcome her to Boiling Springs."
In the 2017 spring season, Panic recorded her first win in collegiate singles action on January, 21, 2017, a three-set win against Lewis-Clark State's Begona Andres. She won four doubles matches that season, defeating teams from Lewis-Clark State, Northern Iowa, Idaho State and Montana State.
In the fall of 2017, Panic went 3-5 in singles competition, with two of her wins coming during the Idaho State Invitational in late September. Panic defeated a pair of opponents from Weber State - Emily Tanner (3-6, 7-6, 6-1) and Andrea Osborn (6-1, 6-4).
Her third singles win of the fall season came against Marta Heinen of Eastern Washington University. Panic was victorious in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, at the Barb Chandler Classic in Boise, Idaho.
For the 2018 spring season, Panic went 1-1 in singles play, competing in the No. 6 flight in each match. She also recorded a 1-1 record in doubles action.
