Swimming Recognized by CSCAA for Success in Classroom

NORFOLK, Va. – The Gardner-Webb men and women's swim teams were recognized by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as Scholar All-America teams for finishing the spring 2018 semester with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

The CSCAA named 710 teams from 476 different institutions to its list for the spring semester.

The Gardner-Webb women posted a GPA of 3.60 for the spring, placing them in the top 20 of all Division I teams, while the men finished the semester with a final GPA of 3.16.

Head coach Mike Simpson was proud of the effort of his student-athletes in the classroom. "Once again, the swimmers have made our coaching staff and university proud," said the veteran head coach. "We know how much work goes into a team having such a high overall GPA. The women were exceptional, just like they were in the fall. Congrats to both teams on achieving All-American status. It's an honor that we do not take for granted."

The Runnin' Bulldogs will now turn their attention to the 2018-19 season, which will begin in late September. The schedule and meet times will be released at a later date.
