Runnin’ Bulldogs Pick Up Four-Set Win At North Carolina A&T Tuesday Night

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two Runnin' Bulldogs posted double-doubles as Gardner-Webb went on to take a four-set decision over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday evening.
 
Gardner-Webb (4-6) took the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-23, while the North Carolina A&T (3-6) answered to take the third set, 25-22.  The Runnin' Bulldogs responded by taking the fourth set by a 25-18 score to claim the overall match win.
 
"It was a solid road win for the team tonight," stated GWU head coach Leo Sayles following the match.  "This was a great bounce-back win after a touch weekend.  Hannah Lancaster gave us a solid offensive game, and Charissa Coleman gave us a great defensive effort.  The players played with poise and purpose tonight.  I'm proud of the team!"
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs had 45 kills on the night on 139 swings for a .158 attack percentage, while N.C. A&T had 43 kills on 148 attempts for a .068 attacking rate.
 
Kylee Garrison led the GWU attack with 14 kills on 41 swings, followed by Lancaster who has 12 smashes on the night.  Garrison also had 14 digs for a double-double.
 
Madi Riggs had a team-high 18 assists to go along with 10 digs for a double-double as well.   Coleman led the 'Dogs on the defensive end with 23 digs, while Hannah Donaldson had seven total blocks on the evening to lead that effort.
 
The Aggies were led offensively by Courteney Pitt, who had a match-high 18 kills, while Edie Brewer tallied a match-best 28 assists.
 
Andrea Laboy-Rivera had a match-high 22 digs, while Lily Walton led N.C A&T in blocks with six.
 
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Friday, taking on Middle Tennessee State to open the 2018 Wofford Tournament.  The match is slated for a 4:30 pm start time at Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
