Volleyball Set To Open Big South Play Against Winthrop Tuesday Evening

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team is set to open Big South Conference play this Tuesday evening, hosting Winthrop in what will also be the 2018 home opener for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
 
Gardner-Webb enters league play with a 5-7 record, coming off of a 2-1 week in which the 'Dogs earned a road win at North Carolina A&T and a 1-1 performance at the Wofford Invitational, picking up a five-set win over Middle Tennessee State before falling to host Wofford.
 
Kylee Garrison has led the GWU attack throughout the season thus far, collecting 98 kills to average 2.39 kills per set.    Amanda Sahm leads the 'Dogs in assists, averaging 5.19 per set.
 
Charissa Coleman leads Gardner-Webb in digs with 195, averaging 4.06 per set, while Hannah Donaldson leads GWU on the block with 62 total blocks for an average of 1.38 per set.
 
Winthrop enters the match with a 4-8 overall record, coming off of a 1-1 weekend at Furman, falling to Appalachian State before picking up a win over the Paladins.
 
Jace Kleffner leads the Eagles in kills with 112 on the year, averaging 2.95 kills per set.  Siani Yamaguchi is the team's leading setter, averaging 9.55 assists per set.
 
Carlie Skelton leads Winthrop in digs with 165 on the year, averaging 4.34 per set, while Lily Leistiko is the team's leading blocker with 31 total blocks on the year.
 
Tuesday's match is slated for a 7:00 pm start time from Paul Porter Arena and will be broadcast live on ESPN+, available on the ESPN app and ESPN.com.
