ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Patrick Sastre and Hannah Jones led the Gardner-Webb cross country team in their respective races at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational, hosted by UNC Asheville at the Asheville Christian Academy on Friday afternoon.

Sastre paced the men's team, completing the 8k course with a personal-best time of 29:20.81. Ezekiel Martin followed with a time of 30.32.67 and Sam Hermanns clocked in at 33:18.85, setting a new PR. Nathaniel Sayles finished the course at 33:53.60 in his first race for GWU at that distance, and Bogdan Podgaisky timed in at 38:00.43.

Jones finish the 5k course with a time of 21:29.03 to lead the women's squad, followed closely by Amy Turlington at 21:32.62. Logan McGuirt crossed the finish line with a time of 22:09.25, while Faith Parandhamaia set a new personal record with a time of 22:33.17. Courtney Kanetzke finished with a time of 23:07.15.

The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action next Saturday morning, taking part in the Upstate Invite in Spartanburg, S.C. at 9:00 am.
