GREENVILLE, N.C. –
Hannah Lancaster had seven kills and three blocks to lead the way for Gardner-Webb, but East Carolina tallied 38 kills en route to a straight-set sweep of the Runnin' Bulldogs on Friday afternoon as the 2018 Pirate Invitational continues.
East Carolina (7-2) won the match by scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-19, attacking at a .255 rate, while Gardner-Webb (3-5) was held to 25 kills with a .049 attacking percentage.
Lancaster led the GWU attack with seven kills on 29 swings for a .103 attacking percentage. She also had three total blocks, tying with
Elizabeth Griffith to lead that effort.
Amanda Sahm collected a team-best 13 assists, while
Madi Riggs and
Kylee Garrison each had eight digs to lead the 'Dogs.
Natalie Tyson, who had ten smashes on 24 swings, led ECU in kills. Shelby Martin dished out a match-high 27 assists, while Maggie Hallow had a match-high 14 digs. S'Mara Riley and Toya Osuegbu each had three blocks to lead the Pirates.
Gardner-Webb has a quick turnaround, taking on Eastern Washington later today at 4:00pm to wrap up the 2018 Pirate Invitational.
