WILMINGTON, N.C - The Gardner-Webb men's and women's swimming teams combined for four event wins and 70 top-five results, but both would fall to UNC Wilmington on Saturday afternoon.
The men's team fell to UNCW by a 186-88 score, while the women's squad fell to the Seahawks by a 193-99 margin.
The meet began with the women's 200-yard medley relay, in which the team of
Charity Bennett,
Whitney Peters,
Jessi Snover, and
Audrey Robinson finished in third with a time of 1:49.45. The grouping of
Cary Pou,
Miranda Johns,
Mary Traylor and
Emily Nordberg placed sixth at 1:55.30.
In the men's 200-yard medley relay, the team of
Brady Fields,
Jordan Mintz,
Cullen Fields, and
Zach Dingfield placed third, timing in at 1:33.52. The team of

Brendan Teeters,

Chase Mattingly followed in fourth at 1:35.80.
Kate Arceneaux placed second in the women's 1,000 yard freestyle, touching the wall at 10:55.90.
Spencer Lucas followed in third place at 10:59.51 and Ashely Cesario placed fourth at 11:13.70.
Drew Peden placed fifth in the men's 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:17.53.
Morgan VanderSchaaf took home a third-place result in the women's 200-yard freestyle, timing in at 1:58.14.
Carol Zangla placed fourth at 1:58.64.
In the men's 200-yard freestyle,
Peter Wakeley placed fifth with a time of 1:45.20.
Charity Bennett placed fourth in the women's 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 1:01.07.
Brady Fields placed first in the men's 100-yard backstroke, timing in at 52.01 seconds.
Tim Bennett finished in third with a time of 52.65 seconds, followed by
John O'Connell in fourth at 52.86 seconds.
In the women's 100-yard breaststroke,
Whitney Peters finished in second with a time of 1:08.05.
Anna Banick placed fifth at 1:10.57.
Jordan Mintz finished second in the men's 100-yard breaststroke at 58.04 seconds.
Brendan Teeters placed fourth at 1:00.88.
Mary Traylor took home the women's 200-yard butterfly title with a time of 2:06.96.
Tessa Walsh followed in second place at 2:09.62, and
Carol Zangla placed fifth with a time of 2:13.61.
In the men's 200-yard butterfly,
Peter Wakeley finished in fifth, timing in at 1:58.81.
Audrey Robinson placed third in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.70 seconds.

Zach Dingfield placed third in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.74 seconds.

In the women's 100-yard freestyle,
