Hofstra Tops Gardner-Webb, 32-13, Sunday Afternoon in Non-Conference Bout

LEXINGTON, S.C. – Gardner-Webb dropped a 32-13 decision Sunday afternoon to Hofstra in non-conference wrestling action at Lexington High School in Lexington, S.C.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs (2-6) fell behind early to the Pride, forfeiting matches at 125 and 133 pounds.   Hofstra expanded its advantage as Garrett Lambert defeated Blake Mulkey by 12-7 decision at 141 pounds, Holden Heller defeated Austin Reames by an 18-6 major decision at 149 pounds, and Chris Mauriello edged Evan Schenk, 11-8 at 157 pounds.
 
Tyler Marinelli broke the shutout at 165 pounds, defeating Ricky Stamm by a 14-3 major decision, which was followed by a quick fall at 174 pounds as Kyle Homet pinned Corey Langner in 56 seconds.
 
Hofstra would take a win by medical forfeit at 184 pounds to stop GWU's momentum.
 
Anthony Perrine earned another win for Gardner-Webb at 197 pounds, picking up an 8-2 decision over Nezar Haddad.
 
Hofstra's Omar Haddad defeated Jeffery Linker at 285 pounds by a 9-1 major decision to close out the match.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs are back in action this Wednesday evening, taking on SoCon foe The Citadel.  The action is set to begin at 7:00 pm in Charleston, S.C.
