Gardner-Webb Women's Tennis Announces 2020 Schedule

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Head women's tennis coach Jim Corn announced the Runnin' Bulldogs' 2020 spring schedule, which features 18 matches, including 11 on Gardner-Webb's home courts.
The 'Dogs will play a challenging schedule in 2020 with 12 matches against teams that finished .500 or better in 2019. Those 12 teams went a combined 166-133 during the spring of 2019 while Gardner-Webb's 18 total opponents finished 198-201 overall last season.
The 'Dogs will open the 2020 campaign with a three-match homestand beginning on January 17 when they host College of Charleston. The Runnin' Bulldogs will also welcome North Carolina Central (Jan. 24) and Western Carolina (Feb. 1) to Boiling Springs before their first road match.
Gardner-Webb will hit the road for the first time on February 7 when it travels to Elon N.C. for a battle with the Elon Phoenix. Coach Corn's Runnin' Bulldogs will also play at Wofford (Feb. 12) before beginning a seven match homestand that lasts until mid-March and extends into Big South play.
The homestand will start with a non-conference match against Davidson on February 15 and also includes non-league battles with UNCG (Feb. 27) and North Carolina A&T (Mar. 3). Gardner-Webb will host four Big South opponents during the homestand – Hampton (Feb. 22), Radford (Feb. 29), Winthrop (Mar. 11) and Charleston Southern (Mar. 14).
The Runnin' Bulldogs' first Big South road match is slated for March 18 at UNC Asheville, and the 'Dogs will take a break from conference play when they travel to Charlotte to take on the Charlotte 49ers on March 21.
The Runnin' Bulldogs' last regular season home match is slated for March 26 against USC Upstate as seniors Daniela Naupari (Lima Peru, SS CC Recoleta), Milica Panic (Belgrade, Serbia / University of Montana) and Miljana Ristic (Nis, Serbia / OS Stefan Nemanja) play in front of the home crowd for the final time in their careers.
Gardner-Webb's longest road swing is set for the last portion of the regular season. The 'Dogs will conclude play with three Big South matches – at Longwood (Mar. 28), Campbell (Apr. 4) and Presbyterian (Apr. 7) – before postseason play commences.
The Big South tournament is scheduled for April 16-19 at UNC Asheville. The winner receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
