Three Podium Finishes Highlight GWU’s Day Two at 2019 CCSA Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Three top-three finishes, including one first-place result highlights Gardner-Webb's performance in the second day of the 2019 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Swimming and Diving Championships, taking place at Liberty University's Liberty Natatorium.
 
After two days of action, the men's team improved to third overall, while the women's team remains seventh overall.
 
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Dowdy Sarvis, Tim Bennett, Brady Fields, and Zach Dingfield placed first overall, timing in at 1:21.06
 
Zach Dingfield finished second in the men's 50-yard freestyle finals to earn All-Conference honors, clocking in at 20.50 seconds.  Brady Fields placed fifth with a time of 20.60 seconds.  Seggio Bernardina finished tenth, timing in at 20.64 seconds, while Dowdy Sarvis placed 12th at 20.96 seconds and Jonathan Frye finished 13th at 21.06 seconds.
 
In the men's 200-yard individual medley finals, Jordan Mintz took home All-Conference honors, placing third with a time of 1:49.59.  Chase Mattingly placed fourth, clocking in at 1:49.67, while Christian Jann finished tenth at 1:52.69, Joshua Clarke placed 11th at 1:52.71, and Peter Wakeley finished 12th at 1:52.77.
 
In the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Audrey Robinson, Tessa Walsh, Jennifer Jackson, and Morgan VanderSchaaf placed sixth, clocking in at 1:35.11.
 
In the women's 500-yard freestyle, Morgan VanderSchaaf led GWU with a tenth-place finish, touching the wall at 4:59.68.   Kate Arceneaux timed in at 5:01.17 to place 12th.
 
Drew Mintz led the 'Dogs in the men's 500-yard freestyle finals, timing in at 4:37.95 to finish 11thWill Anderson placed 15th with a time of 4:44.92, followed by Drew Peden in 16th at 4:45.47.
 
Jessi Snover placed 13th in the women's 200-yard individual medley finals, clocking in at 2:04.63.  Spencer Lucas finished 15th with a time of 2:06.37.  Carol Zangla placed 20th at 2:08.68, followed by Miranda Johns in 21st at 2:09.12
 
Tessa Walsh led GWU in the women's 50-yard freestyle finals, timing in at 24.22 seconds to place 18th.   Jennifer Jackson finished 24th with a time of 24.16 seconds.
 
The 2019 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships roll on tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 10:00 am, and the finals taking place at 6:00 pm at the Liberty Natatorium.
