
Women's Golf Picks Up Two Wins Monday At 2019 Oyster Shuck Match Play

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Gardner-Webb women's golf kicked off its spring season in fine fashion Monday, capturing a pair of wins at the 2019 Oyster Shuck Match Play.
The event is being played at the 6,393-yard Patriots Point Golf Club (Par 72), hosted by The Citadel.
In round one, Gardner-Webb took a 4.5 to 0.5 win over The Citadel, winning four of the five individual matchups.
Kristen Wong defeated Marina Grimal 2&1 in the No. 1 slot and both Linnea Hofgren and Allison Chandler picked up 6&4 wins at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Morgan Laird took a 7&6 win over Sarah Smith at the No. 5 spot.
No. 2 seed Lindsay Koppel halved her match with Andrea Hoos to pick up an addition half point for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Kopek was in the No. 1 spot in the day's second match vs. Appalachian State and picked up a huge win in overtime vs. Movie Adamchik – providing the key margin in Gardner-Webb's 3.0 to 2.0 win over the Mountaineers.
Hofgren defeated Abby Bolt (2UP) in the No. 3 spot and Chandler took a 1UP decision over Patricia Thompson at No. 4.
The event will continue on Tuesday morning in the Low Country.
