Tyler Marinelli remains unblemished in dual matches this season, but Gardner-Webb would drop a 40-4 decision at No. 25 Campbell on Tuesday evening in Southern Conference wrestling action.
Gardner-Webb (2-9, 0-4 SoCon) fell behind quick, as the 25
th- ranked Campbell's (5-0, 3-0 SoCon) took six points due to a forfeit at 125 pounds, followed by a pair of decisions at 133 and 141 pounds, as well as another forfeit at 149 pounds to take a 18-0 lead.
Campbell picked up another decision at 157 pounds before the 'Dogs got on the board at 165 pounds.
Marinelli handled Cameron Pine in the 165-pound bout, earning a 9-1 major decision win to set the score at 21-4.
Marinelli now sits at 20-2 overall this season and is a perfect 10-0 in dual matches.
The Runnin' Bulldogs would drop the remaining four matches on the night.
Gardner-Webb returns home for its next dual, hosting Pittsburgh this Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm inside Paul Porter Arena, with live coverage on ESPN+.
