GREENVILLE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb fired a 54-hole team score of 909 to finish sixth at the 2019 ECU Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina.

The tournament was played on the Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville on Monday and Tuesday.

The Runnin' Bulldogs shot a 308 in the opening round, but rebounded to card a 294 over the next 18 holes. The 'Dogs shot 307 on Tuesday, finishing five strokes behind James Madison and the top-5.

Steffen Smith continued his steady play this spring, finishing in a tie for seventh after shooting a low round of 72 on Tuesday. Smith (74-75-72-221) led Gardner-Webb's group, which finished just in front of College of Charleston.

Host East Carolina won the event.

Patrick Wu (76-72-79-221) finished in a tie for 24th, Charles Dallery (78-73-77-228) finished in a tie for 30th, Jonathan Henry (81-74-79-234) tied for 46th and Zack Byers (80-78-81-239) rounded out Gardner-Webb's action in a tie for 60th.

Gardner-Webb will be back in action on March 23-24 at the 2019 Tar Heel Intercollegiate in Chapel Hill, N.C.
