Runnin’ Bulldogs Named to NWCA Top 30 Scholar All-American Team List; Homet and Marinelli Earn All-American Honors

MANHEIM, Pa. – Gardner-Webb wrestling was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Top 30 Scholar All-American Team list, while Kyle Homet and Tyler Mariinelli were both named NWCA Scholar All-Americans.
The Runnin' Bulldogs ranked 11th in the nation, posting a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3054.
Also recognized by the NWCA for their achievements in the classroom were freshman Kyle Homet and redshirt-senior Tyler Marinelli.
Homet, an Economics/Finance major, finished the season with an 18-12 overall record, including a third-place finish at 174 pounds at the 2019 Southern Conference Wrestling Championships.
Marinelli, majoring in Exercise Science, became Gardner-Webb's first two-time Southern Conference champion this season, claiming the 165-pound title to qualify for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships for the second consecutive year. Marinelli finished the year with an overall record of 26-4.
