ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's outdoor track and field team picked up three All-Conference finishes, including one championship, while setting two new school records in the final day of the 2019 Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rock Hill, S.C.
Over the course of the three-day event, GWU set 17 new personal records, along with a pair of new program records.
The Runnin' Bulldogs placed sixth overall with 49.5 team points. Hampton took home the women's title, followed by High Point and Campbell.
Natasha Akbarizadeh took home the conference title in the hammer throw, breaking the Gardner-Webb all-time record with a distance of 63.92 meters.
Petra Jakeljic followed in second place with a mark of 56.58 meters to earn All-Conference honors.
Cailen Blaire finished sixth at 50.43 meters, setting a new PR, while
Taliyah Wade placed tenth at a personal best 43.29 meters.
Diviana Forrest took home All-Conference honors in the 400-meter run, placing second overall with a time of 54.73 seconds, setting a new school record for the event.
Forrest also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 24.72 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Khalilah Conway,
Diviana Forrest,
Hannah Sparacio, and
Hannah Jones placed sixth with a time of 3:59.71.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Khalilah Conway placed sixth, clocking in at 1:03.55, setting a new PR that ranks fifth in program history.
The 4x100-meter relay team of
Kira Ramsey,
Hannah Sparacio,
Maya Mallory and
Diviana Forrest placed seventh, timing in at 48.49 seconds.
Sandra Bolstad finished 18
th in the 5,000-meter run, timing in at 20:15.88.
Amy Turlington placed 20
th with a time of 21:40.05, and
Courtney Kanetzke finished 22
nd at 23:29.11.
