Women's Golf Earns High Academic Marks From WGCA For 2018-2019

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Gardner-Webb women's golf was honored for its academic prowess, as the Women's Golf Coaches Association named four Runnin' Bulldogs to its 2019 All-American Scholar Team.
Allison Chandler, Lindsay Koppel, Linnea Hofgren, Kristen Wong and Morgan Laird each earned a spot on the prestigious team by the WGCA. The criteria for selection is among the most stringent in all of college athletics – with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Chandler, a junior from Chester, Nova Scotia, carries a 4.0 GPA in her accounting major.
Kopek, a sophomore from Dripping Springs, Texas, also carries a 4.0 in international business.
Wong, a senior, finished her academic career with a 3.93 GPA in biology.
Hofgren, a freshman from Molnlycke, Sweden, got off to a fine start with a 3.56 GPA with a business major and Laird, a senior from Waxhaw, N.C., capped her career with a 3.50 GPA in exercise science.
The quintet of All-American Scholars helped head coach Tee Burton's Gardner-Webb squad post the nation's No. 9 team GPA according to the WGCA, as the Runnin' Bulldogs posted a 3.780 team GPA for the 2018-2019 year.
