David Efianayi has a professional deal in hand, signing to play in Denmark with the Bakken Bears.
The Bears are the defending champions of the Danish BasketLigaen and are coached by Steffen Wich. The club is located in Aarhus, Denmark, which is the second largest city in the country.
Efianayi (Orlando, Fla. / Ocoee HS) enjoyed his finest season at Gardner-Webb in 2018-2019, leading the team with an average of 18.2 points per game. He added career-highs in rebounding (3.7 rpg) and assists (2.9 apg) in addition to draining 71-of-169 shots from long range (42.0 percent) and knocking down 165 free throws – also career-high totals.
The 6-foot-2 guard's efforts helped Gardner-Webb earn its first trip to the Big Dance and a 23-12 record overall. He earned All-Big South honors for the third time this past season and was an NABC All-District 3 second-team choice.
Efianayi scored 15 points in the win over Radford – all in the second half – in the Big South South title bout.
For his career, Efianayi scored 1,747 points, pulled down 323 rebounds and dished off 274 assists. He started 85 games and played in 119, averaged 28.4 minutes per game for his career and knocked down 437 career free throws (74.8 percent).
