BURLINGTON, N.C. – Gardner-Webb women's golf pulled into a tie for fourth overall with Appalachian State Tuesday on the final day of the 2019 Elon Invitational.
The 6,706-yard (Par 71) Alamance Country Club, which opened in 1946, hosted the tournament – which featured nine teams.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished seven strokes off the pace of host Elon in third and were eight strokes better than Big South member Charleston Southern by the final hole.
Linnea Hofgren led Gardner-Webb with a strong individual effort, getting off to a quick start with a first-round of 67. She used four birdies and an eagle on No. 6 to power her opening round.
Hofgren shot even par over her second 18 holes and finished with a final round of 72 (+1) to finish the tournament in a tie for third place individually. The sophomore standout had nine birdies during the tournament, and was only four shots off of the lead.
Senior
Allison Chandler continued her solid early fall play with a 14th-place finish (69-76-74-219), while
Suthasinee Sridet (74-81-76-231) finished tied for 36th and
Lindsay Koppel (79-77-74-232) improved each round to finish in a tie for 40th.
Gillian O'Brien (77-77-81-235) capped Gardner-Webb's scoring with a 43rd-place finish.
Ellis Harvie competed as an individual and finished 55th.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are back on the course on October 7 at Winthrop Fall Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
