
ASUN Conference Names Eight Runnin' Bulldogs To The Cross County and Track and Field 2000-09 All-Decade Teams

ATLANTA, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced the Cross Country and Track and Field 2000-09 All-Decade Team as eight Runnin' Bulldog student-athletes were named to the teams.
To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Exemptions made for individuals that reached NCAA Championship. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; Runner of the Year or three First Team All-Conference selections. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Freshman or Scholar-Athlete of the Year, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference selections.
Women's XC:
Sylvia Chelimo, Gardner-Webb
Chelimo was the 2002 Runner of the Year and is the only student-athlete from Gardner-Webb to earn the honor. She earned one First Team All-Conference selection and one Runner of the Week award in her career.
Men's XC:
Lucas McAneney, Gardner-Webb
In 2004, 2006 and 2007 McAneney was chosen to the All-Conference First Team. He is the only student-athlete in Gardner-Webb's history to earn three First Team selections. He was chosen as Runner of the Week three times and was a member of the 2004 All-Freshmen Team.
Men's Track and Field:
Jake Didion, Gardner-Webb
The Most Outstanding Freshman Performer at the 2005 Outdoor Championship, Didion picked up three victories in Outdoor events during his career (Long Jump, 2006; Triple Jump, 2006-07). He was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer in 2007 after winning the Triple Jump and finishing runner-up in the Long Jump at the Indoor Championship.
Elliot Haynie, Gardner-Webb
At the Indoor ASUN Championships, Haynie claimed three gold medals which included back-to-back Pole Vault victories in 2007 and 2008. His height of 5.20m at the 2008 event tops the list of best event performances in conference history. He finished 10th in the Pole Vault at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championship. In 2008, he also took home the ASUN Championship event title in the Heptathlon.
Matt Knippen, Gardner-Webb
Knippen won a total of five titles across ASUN Indoor and Outdoor Championships during his career. At the 2006 Indoor Championship, he won both the Weight Throw and the Shot Put. He followed up with another Shot Put victory in 2007 and also picked up wins in the event at the 2005 and 2006 Outdoor Championships.
Jerel Langley, Gardner-Webb
Langley took home three Javelin Throw titles at Outdoor Championships with his victories coming in consecutive seasons of 2007 through 2009. His medal-winning throw of 64.28m in 2008 ranks first in ASUN history for the event while his performance of 61.50m in 2007 sits fifth.
Jeremy Longshore, Gardner-Webb
While competing in the ASUN, Longshore collect three Pole Vault gold medals in a row at the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Outdoor Championships. He is one of two student-athletes to pick up three victories in the event in Outdoor Championship history. He was also the winner of the Pole Vault at the 2006 Indoor Championship and his winning height of 4.90m is sixth all-time for top Championship performances.
Cody MacArthur, Gardner-Webb
MacArthur was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the back-to-back ASUN Outdoor Championships in 2006 and 2007. He took home victories in both the Discus Throw and Hammer Throw in both years. He helped Gardner-Webb to its only ASUN title at the 2006 Championship.
