Gardner-Webb Swimming Starts off Strong On Day One of CCSA Championships

Knoxville, Tenn. – On Wednesday Gardner-Webb Swimming had their first day of competition at CCSA Championships at the University of Tennessee. At the end of competition on Wednesday men's swimming is in fourth place with 72 points, and women's swimming is in fifth place with 104 points.
Kicking off the meet in the women's 800 Yard Freestyle relay, the squad of Spencer Lucas, Alyssa Church, Blake Broullire, and Mary Traylor swam a time of 7:33.09 to take fifth place.
In the men's 200 Yard Medley Relay, the gang of Brady Fields, Jordan Mintz, Tim Bennett, and Zach Dingfield took first place with a time of 1:27.74.
For the women's 200 Yard Medley Relay, Kayla Smith, Jennifer Jackson, Jessi Snover, and Audrey Robison took third place with a time of 1:47.47.
In the last event of the day, in the Men's 800 Yard Freestyle Relay the quartet of Tim Bennett, Zach Dingfield, Chase Mattingly, and Cullen Fields placed third with a time of 6:34.40, which is a record for the program.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action Thursday February 20th for day two of CCSA Championships. Prelims start at 10:00am and Finals will start at 6:00 pm.
