Sastre, Prugh Lead Runnin' Bulldogs on Friday Afternoon Meet

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Gardner-Webb competed in the Winthrop Cross Country Invitational on Friday afternoon. The women's team placed sixth at the event while the men placed eighth.
The men's 8K started the afternoon. Patrick Sastre was the first to cross the finish line for the Runnin' Bulldogs with a new personal best time of 28:32. Ethan Bentley finished next, in 51st, at 29:27. Matthew Cloninger clocked in at 31:33 and Joe Waller at 31:49. Cole Ray timed in at 39:26 and Bogdan Podgaisky right behind at 39:26.7 to round out Gardner-Webb's runners.
The women competed in the 5K with a team average time of 21:49. Amy Prugh led the team, finishing 21st with a time of 19:44. Jennifer Escalera clocked in after at 21:47 and Faith Parandhamaia finished at 21:51. Taylor Robinson crossed the line next with a time of 22:39. Camille Sykes timed in at 22:59 on the day. Brooklyn Tretter finished 54th with a time of 23:34.
Next up for the teams is the Big South Conference Championship Meet. It is scheduled to be raced on March 5th with a start time of 2:30 p.m.
