WAKE FOREST, N.C. – Gardner-Webb completed the ITA Division I Carolina Women's Regional Championship this past week. Seven members of the program played in the event's matches between the singles and doubles brackets.
 
Day one of the event began the competition in the singles matches. Manon Delsol came away with a win in her opening match against Wofford's Lilie Steryous, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Her following match was against the #2 seeded player in the tournament, Sabhyata Nihalani of Wake Forest who defeated Delsol 6-1, 6-0. Delsol ended up being the only GWU player to win a singles match during the event.
 
In the doubles matches, the 'Dogs saw Delsol and Teodora Ristic defeat a duo from UNCW 8-5 in their opening match in the top bracket of the tournament. Gardner-Webb dropped the following match against the #8 seeded pair from Duke of Karolina Berankova and Georgia Drummy on an 8-3 score. This pairing from Duke ended up being the runners-up for this bracket.
 
Gardner-Webb will be back in action this weekend for the Wofford lnvite to conclude the Runnin' Bulldogs' fall schedule.
