Women's Golf Wraps Up Fall Season With Third Place Finish At French Broad

ARDEN, N.C. – Gardner-Webb closed out its 2021 fall season in style, finishing third at the French Broad Collegiate Invitational hosted by UNC Asheville.

The tournament was held at the 5,937-yard (Par 71) The Cliffs at Walnut Cove.

The Runnin' Bulldogs finished in a three-way tie with High Point and Western Carolina with a three-round score of 910. Wofford won the team title with an 896 and Eastern Kentucky was a close second with an 898.

Gardner-Webb and Western Carolina led after the opening round and a 299 after 18 holes. The squad shot a 305 and 306 over the final two rounds to pull even with the Catamounts and Panthers.

Dominika Burdova (73-76-73-222) finished sixth individually to lead Gardner-Webb, carding a pair of birdies on the back nine Tuesday. Linnea Hofgren (77-74-76-227) and Kayla Dowell (74-77-76-227) each finished five strokes back in a tie for 15th position.

Gillian O'Brien (75-78-81-234) finished in a tie for 29th and Ellis Harvis (88-83-88-259) finished 56th.

Eastern Kentucky's Ragga Kristinsdottir shot back-to-back 70s to win medalist honors.
