CLINTON, S.C. – Senior outside hitter Audrey Gun posted double-digit kills for the fourth time this season and for the second match in a row, but the road woes continued for the Gardner-Webb University volleyball team (7-16; 4-9 Big South) as the Runnin' Bulldogs dropped Friday evening's Big South Conference showdown to Presbyterian College (11-12; 6-7 Big South) in straight sets inside the Templeton Center.
 
Coming off a season-high 14 kills her last time out, Gun paced the Runnin' Bulldogs with 12 kills on just 24 attacks for a match-high .458 hitting percentage. Fellow senior outside hitter Kylee Garrison added eight kills and nine digs, Tori Weatherley dished out 24 assists, and Mikah McIntosh recorded 13 digs to lead to a GWU team that hit .116 on the night and registered 28 kills.
 
"Tonight was a frustrating match, but all the credit goes to Presbyterian," said Gardner-Webb head coach Eric Plunkett. "PC executed at a high level in all facets of the game, but especially from the service line. They put a ton of pressure on our passers and we struggled to get into rhythm. We came out a little flat, so I hope we can fire it up from the start in tomorrow's match against Charleston Southern."
 
Presbyterian led the way in all offensive categories, finishing the match with 19 more kills than the 'Dogs, as well as a 6-3 edge in service aces and an 8-3 advantage in team blocks.
 
While the Blue Hose jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the opening frame, Gardner-Webb mounted an early comeback thanks to a 5-0 run and a pair of kills from Garrison, as well as another from middle blocker Delaney McCullough. However, PC countered with a 10-0 run of its own, going on to take the first set by a final score of 25-16.
 
Following a second set that also went 25-16 in favor of the Blue Hose, the Runnin' Bulldogs pressed the home team in set three, trading points and ultimately using a service ace from Sophia Bolden, as well as a kill from Gun, to gain control of the lead with a one-point edge, 12-11. Presbyterian immediately answered once again, however, sprinting to a 5-0 run to take a 16-12 lead before fending off a late GWU push in order to cap off the three-set sweep, 25-22, to round out the evening.
 
Still looking to overcome a rash of injuries to a trio of key players, Gardner-Webb takes aim at its first road win of the season on Saturday when it travels to take on Charleston Southern in Big South play at 2 p.m. inside Buccaneer Fieldhouse.
