BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb Softball program and head coach Bailey Wigness announced the 2022 softball schedule on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Gardner-Webb's full schedule features 27 home games at Brinkley Softball Stadium, split into 15 nonconference games and 12 in Big South play. 
 
"We are very excited about the spring schedule," said head coach Bailey Wigness "It's a good mix of home games and getting out on the road. It offers us an opportunity to play against some great competition and prepare us for Big South play."
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs will open the season with back-to-back tournament weekends at Brinkley Softball Stadium, as they will take on Youngstown State University, the University of Rhode Island, and Colgate University in the Runnin' Bulldog Classic from February 11-13. The following weekend (February 18-19) the 'Dogs will host Morehead State University and East Tennessee State University in the Red and Black Classic. 
 
GWU will then head down to Athens, Georgia for its first road contest of the season against the University of Georgia on Wednesday, February 23. 
 
On February 25-27, Wigness and her softball squad will head up to Greenville, North Carolina to take part in the East Carolina Softball Tournament. During the 'Dogs stint in Greenville, they will face Villanova University, Farleigh Dickinson University, and East Carolina University.  
 
To open March, Gardner-Webb will travel to Clemson University for a midweek doubleheader on the first of the month. 
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs will then travel to the Creole State to play in their fourth and final tournament of the season at the Southeastern Louisiana Tournament. While in Louisiana the 'Dogs will face Marist College, University at Buffalo, and Southeastern Louisiana University.
 
GWU will then host three midweek doubleheaders against the University of Detroit Mercy (Tuesday, March 8), Virginia Tech (Tuesday, March 15), and Western Carolina University (Tuesday, March 22) to round out its non-conference play. 
 
Heading into Big South Play, the Runnin' Bulldogs will host 12 games at home and play 14 on the road. The 'Dogs will face Hampton University (March 1-12), Charleston Southern University March 25-26), Winthrop University (April 15-16), and University of South Carolina - Upstate (April 22-23) at Brinkley Softball Stadium. GWU will face North Carolina A&T State University (March 18-19), Radford University (April 1-2), Presbyterian College (April 9-10), Longwood University (April 30-May 1), and Campbell University (May 7-8) on the road to round out its Big South contests. 

The Big South Softball Championship Tournament will take place from May 11-14, which will be hosted by Longwood University.
