
Three Golds Clenched And New Program Record Set On Day One of Men’s CCSA’s

LYNCHBURG, Va. – On Friday night the Men dove into their first day of swimming at the 2021 Men's CCSA Championships at the Liberty Natatorium. At the end of day one, the men are sitting atop the standings in first-place with 310.5 points.
In an awesome start to the night, the squad of Brady Fields, Jonathan Frye, Tim Bennett, and Seggio Bernardina took home the gold in the Men's 200 Medley Relay. At the end of the race they posted a time of 1:27.32, which is a new record for the Runnin' Bulldogs Swimming program, and CCSA Championships.
In the Men's 500 Free, Brady Vann took home fourth-place with a time of 4:35.38, Will Anderson placed fifth with a time of 4:47.66, and Garrett Despres placed seventh with a time of 4:38.58.
Chase Mattingly took home second-place in the Men's 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:50.6, right behind him Christian Jann placed third by posting a time of 1:50.77. Additionally, Daniel Baldwin took fourth-place in the event with a time of 1:51.01.
In the Men's 50 Free, Brady Fields took home the gold for the Dogs' with a time of 20.31 at the finish. Fellow teammate Seggio Bernardina clenched third-place with a time of 20.43, and Drew Mintz placed fourth by posting a time of 20.61.
As for the Men's 800 Free Relay, the squad of Tim Bennett, Christian Jann, Drew Mintz, and Landon Clark took home yet another gold for Gardner-Webb. In the even the men posted a time of 6:42.33 on the touchpad.
"The men had great team energy tonight," Head Coach Mike Blum commented. "The guys did a great job of getting their hand on the wall and we are really looking forward to the next two days of competition."
Gardner-Webb Men's Swimming will be back in action tomorrow for day two of CCSA Championships.
