Runnin’ Bulldogs Set for 2021 SoCon Wrestling Championship

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb wrestling team is prepared to take part in the 2021 Southern Conference Wrestling Championship on Sunday as the squad looks to earn berths to the 2021 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, Mo.
The Runnin' Bulldogs enter the tournament with a trio of No. 2 seeds in RJ Mosley (165 pounds), Jha'Quan Anderson (184 pounds) and Anthony Perrine (285 pounds). Mosley posted a 9-2 overall record during the regular season, including a 7-1 record in SoCon duals. Anderson finished the regular season with a 7-1 record, all against SoCon opponents. Perrine was 6-3 on the year, with a perfect 6-0 record against SoCon foes.
Trevon Majette (141 pounds) and Evan Schenk (174 pounds) earned No. 3 seeds, Taylor Parks (157 pounds) is seeded fourth, and Samuel Mora (197 pounds) is seeded fifth, while Adeyn Concepcion (125 pounds), Todd Carter (133 pounds), and Brandon Bright (149 pounds) enter the tournament as No. 6 seeds.
The SoCon earned two NCAA allocations each at 149 pounds, 184 pounds and heavyweight. The remaining weight classes earned one allocation each, which is the automatic qualifier for the conference tournament champion.
The 2021 SoCon Wrestling Championships begin Sunday, February 28 in Boone, N.C. in Appalachian State's Holmes Convocation Center. The championship will be streamed in its entirety on ESPN+
