HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. –
Linnea Hofgren carded a final round of 70 on Sunday to lead Gardner-Webb to a sixth-place finish at the 2021 Low Country Intercollegiate.
The 36-hole tournament was hosted by Wofford, but held on the coast at the Bear Creek Golf Club on Friday and Saturday. Bear Creek is a 5,906-yard, par 72 course.
Hofgren's two-under par Sunday was part of a two stroke improvement overall for the Gardner-Webb women, who moved past Appalachian State and UNC Asheville to hold off hard-charging Lipscomb by one stroke.
Hofgren shot 75 on Saturday and finished the tournament in fifth pace individually. She sank six birdies and helped Gardner-Webb shoot minus-2 on Par 5 holes over two days.
Gillian O'Brien, who sank the tournament's lone eagle, shot 79-75-154 to finish 30th.
Dominika Burdova (75-81-156) was close behind in 36th and
Lindsay Koppel (79-80-159) finished 45th. Veteran
Allison Chandler did not finish play.
