ST. LOUIS, Mo. –
RJ Mosley advanced to Friday with a consolation round win, as Gardner-Webb had two men compete Thursday at the 2021 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Mosley fell in his first match of the day, dropping a narrow 8-6 decision against Bucknell's Zach Hartman at 165 pounds.
Mosley bounced back in Thursday night's consolation round, picking up a 9-7 decision over Virginia's Jake Keating to advance to Friday's session.
The redshirt-sophomore moves on to face Michigan's Cameron Amine on Friday.
Jha'Quan Anderson made an impressive debut on the national stage in the pigtail round at 184 pounds. Taking on Sacred Heart's Joe Accousti, the bout went into a sudden victory overtime round tied 1-1. Late in the round, the redshirt-freshman earned a strong takedown of Accousti to seal the 3-1 win.
Anderson moved on to face the No. 1 seed from Penn State, Aaron Brooks. Brooks would take the matchup by a 17-1 tech fall early in the third period.
In the consolation rounds, Anderson fell to Purdue's Max Lyon by a 14-3 major decision.
