ROCK HILL, S.C. – On Saturday, Gardner-Webb Track and Field wrapped up competition in day two of the Winthrop Invitational, which was highlighted by several personal bests.
In the women's Discus,
Jaden Finch placed sixth by hitting a mark of 42.87 meters, which marks a personal best for Finch and third overall top mark in program history.
Karmen Taylor placed ninth by hitting a mark of 39.41, which is a personal best and a top eight mark in program history.
As for the women's pole vault,
Sophia Smith placed sixth with a mark of 3.35 meters, marking a personal best.
Skyela Amsberry placed eighth by hitting a mark of 2.90 meters, which marks a personal best for her as well.
Taliyah Wade placed seventh in the women's shot put by hitting a mark of 12.26 meters, and
Jaden Finch placed eighth in the event with a mark of 12.16 meters.
Karmen Taylor hit a personal best by hitting a mark of 10.97 meters.
In the men's discus,
Josh Fischer placed eighth overall by hitting a mark of 39.88 meters, and
Lorenzo Lawrence hit a personal best of 31.94 meters.
Ryan McGuffin placed second in the men's long jump by reaching a distance of 6.91 meters, which is a personal best and a top seven program record.
As for the women's 400 meters,
Amira Austin ran a personal best with a time of 59.74 seconds.
Hannah Mitchell also ran a personal best with a time of 59.78 seconds.
Chase Thornhill won the men's 400 meters for the Runnin' Bulldogs with a time of 47.52 seconds at the finish line.
Patrick Sastre placed ninth with a time of 50.39 seconds.
Sarianna Miranda-Rosado finished the women's 100 meters with a personal best of 12.95 seconds.
In the men's 100 meters,
Ryan McGuffin placed sixth with a time of 10.94 seconds, which is a new top eight program record as well.
Lorranger Russell placed eight by running a time of 11.01 seconds, which is a personal best and a top ten program mark.
Khalilah Conway placed fourth in the women's 400 meter hurtles by finishing with a time of 1:06.08.
In the women's 1,500 meters,
Faith Parandhamaia ran a personal best time of 5:09.66,
Ashley Eavenson ran a personal best of 5:17.24, and
Camille Sykes ran a personal best with a time of 5:30.41.
Ethan Bentley placed eleventh in the men's 1,500 meters with a time of 4:09.51, marking a personal best for him.
Matthew Cloninger ran a personal best as well with a time of 4:24.61.
Gardner-Webb Track and Field will be back in action on April 1
st & 2
nd, traveling up to High Point to take part in the Vertklasse Meeting.
