ROCK HILL, S.C. – Gardner-Webb women's golf had its best showing of the spring on Monday and Tuesday, finishing third at the 2021 Eagle Invitational, hosted by Winthrop.
The tournament was played at the Rock Hill Country Club, with six of the seven teams in attendance members of the Big South Conference.
Gardner-Webb finished 10 strokes in front of Belmont University and fell eight shots behind second-place Campbell. USC Upstate carded a tournament-best round of 300 on Tuesday to pull away for the team title.
The Runnin' Bulldogs were led by
Allison Chandler (77-79-156) who finished in seventh individually.
Linnea Hofgren (74-84-158) was two strokes back in 11th place, buoyed by a team-low first round score of 74.
Gillian O'Brien (80-80-160) was close behind in 16th for the 'Dogs.
Dominika Burdova (86-79-165) finished 27th and
Lindsay Koppel (88-81-169) took 35th for Gardner-Webb.
Ellis Harvie (84-84-168) finished 32nd while competing individually.
Hofgren paced the entire field with an even 4.00 average on Par 4 holes and O'Brien was second (+1) in Par 3 scoring for the tournament. Hofgren led Gardner-Webb with five birdies, with O'Brien and Koppel each sinking four birdie putts over 36 holes.
Campbell's Anna Nordfors (72-73-145) won individual medalist honors for the 36-hole event. The average score over two days was 82.12.
