Thornhill Claims First in 400 Meter on Final Day of Vertklasse Meeting

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Gardner-Webb Track and Field wrapped up their second and final day of action at the Vertklasse Meeting on Friday afternoon.
 
In the women's 400 meter, Khalilah Conway ran a personal best by finishing with a time of 1:03.15.
 
Chase Thornhill took the gold in the men's 400 meter by finishing with a time of 48.15 seconds. James Hinton ran a personal best by finishing with a time of 52.63.
 
In the women's 800 meter, Hannah Mitchell took sixth, which marks a personal best and a new top eight time in program history. Faith Parandhamaia ran a personal best with a time of 2:28.02. Ashley Eavenson ran a personal best as well by finishing with a time of 2:36.57.
 
Ethan Bentley finished the men's 800 meter race with a personal best time of 2:00.98.
 
For the women's 4 x 400 meter race the squad of Taylor Hotchkiss, Khalilah Conway, Amira Austin, Kelsey Houser took seventh place with a time of 4:16.94. 
 
In the men's 4 x 400 meter race the squad of Chase Thornhill, Kaleb Hewitt, James Hinton, and Austin Buzzard took fifth place with a time of 3:19.95.
 
Petra Jakeljic placed third in the women's hammer by hitting a mark of 56.10 meters.
 
In the men's discus, Josh Fischer threw a personal best of 41.27 meters.
 
As for the women's discus, Jaden Finch placed fifth and hit a personal best mark of 43.38 meters.
 
Ryan McGuffin placed fourth in the men's long jump by hitting a mark of 6.97 meters, which marks a personal best for him as well. Lorranger Russell hit a personal best in the men's long jump by hitting a mark of 6.54 meters.
 
In the men's triple jump, Austin Evans placed fourth overall by hitting a mark of 13.76 meters.
 
Eliel Cuesta placed ninth in the men's high jump by hitting a mark of 1.74 meters.
 
Gardner-Webb Track and Field will be back in action on Saturday, April 10th. At the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C., and at the Aggie Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
