Almond, McNeil, & Perry Earn Big South All-Conference Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Runnin' Bulldogs Softball had three members of the program named to the Big South All-Conference teams, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Weslyn Almond and Leslie McNeil were both named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference list, and Brook Perry was named to the All-Academic Team
 
Weslyn Almond - Honorable Mention All-Conference
This season during Almond's senior campaign, she had the second highest batting average on the Runnin' Bulldogs Softball squad this year, as she had a batting average of .293 (24-for-82). Four of Almond's hits this season were doubles, while also accounting for 4 RBI. Almond also scored 8 total runs this season for GWU. In the outfield Almond boasted a 1.000 fielding percentage, and had recorded 41 putouts throughout the season.
 
Leslie McNeil - Honorable Mention All-Conference
McNeil led GWU this season with a batting average .309 (21-for-68). McNeil started all 32 she played in, splitting 16 games at shortstop and 16 games at catcher. The sophomore accounted for a total of two RBI and four Runs this season, while also collecting 21 total bases and had a SLG % of .309.
 
Brooke Perry - All-Academic Team
Perry upheld a GPA of 3.89 in the Middle Grades Education Program. Perry has been named to the Honor Roll twice (Fall 2017, Spring 2019), and to the Dean's list four times (Spring 2018, Fall 2018, Fall 2019, & Fall 2020) during her career at Gardner-Webb. During the Spring 2021 season, Perry pitched a 4.21 ERA and led the team to a total of four wins. Perry started 20 games in the circle total for GWU, while making 23 appearances, and pitched a total of 103 innings, with 98 Strikeouts. Perry's lone shutout of the season came against Presbyterian on April 3rd. Behind the plate Perry batted a .229. Throughout the 2021 season, Perry also hit four home runs, and had eight RBI this season.
