BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb Men's Tennis announced the addition of Alex Lepine (Montreal, Canada) on Friday morning. Lepine will join the team in the upcoming fall semester.
 
During his years as a junior competitor, Lepine has developed into one of the top players in Canada. One of his career highlights was a top 8 finish in the U16 outdoor championships. Lepine won over 50 singles matches in some of the top tournaments in Canada during 2018 and 2019.
 
"Alex moves extremely well on the court, as his movement is his strength, and he has an all-court game," said Griffith. "When I first started to recruit him, three things stood out, his success, his ability to glide across the court, and his academics."
 
Lepine has also flourished in the classroom as he posted a 4.0 GPA.
 
"Since he committed, it has been difficult for him to find competitions to play in Canada due to COVID restrictions, so he has been seeking out competitions and playing tournaments in Florida," said Griffith. "This shows that he is finding ways to excel and showcasing grit and determination which will be great for our team."
 
Lepine joins Numa Lemieux-Monette as the newest additions to the Runnin' Bulldogs men's tennis program. Both signees are from Canada and have become good friends through playing together.
