GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Women's Tennis team opened its fall tournament schedule with a dominating performance at the Limestone Challenger this weekend. The 'Dogs ended the weekend with a 19-3 record overall and five of the seven flight winners were Runnin' Bulldogs at the event.
Teodora Ristic played in the #1 singles matches and went 3-0. All matches were decided in straight sets as well. In the #2 singles,
Manon Delsol was undefeated. After a three-set match on Friday against Lander's Mille Elsborg, Delsol won in straight sets on Saturday including a 6-0, 6-0 decision.
The #3 singles competition saw
Elin Hellberg go 2-1. Hellberg won both her afternoon matches in straight sets over opponents from Limestone and Lander.
Maria Jardim was able to glide through her competition winning all three of her matches in the #4 position.
Playing in the #5 flight,
Courtney Fyvie finished 2-1 defeating Valentina Aparico in straight sets and then Alex Dolfi 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 on Saturday afternoon.
Elise Semmartin won both her matches in the #6 position, including a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Converse's Kelsey White.
In her collegiate debut,
Emilia Roslund put up a 2-0 record with both matches coming against competition from the #6 flight.
Katie Watts also commanded in her first action with the Runnin' Bulldogs going 2-1. She had her first win as a 6-0, 6-1 Saturday morning and a 6-2, 6-0 win on Saturday afternoon.
