Women Finish in 5th, Men 8th at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb Cross Country teams competed in its second meet of the season on Saturday morning. The women's team finished in fifth and the men's in eighth.
Leading the 'Dogs was Patrick Sastre with a finish in 28th and time of 28:39. Ryan Morita and Joe Waller came across the line next, with times of 29:27 and 29:49. Matthew Cloninger finished next at 33:25. Mark Mellon was the fifth-place finisher on the team with a 36:52. Rounding out the results were Garry Ankrom at 37:32 and Cole Ray at 39:56. The men's team finished the day with an average time of 31:39.
Amy Prugh was the top finisher for the Runnin' Bulldogs in 21st with a time of 20:57. Hannah Mitchell came in next at 21:30 in 25th with Taylor Robinson finishing in 27th at 21:41. At 22:00, Faith Parandhamaia ended the day in 30th. Camille Sykes finished at 22:14. Rounding out the top seven of the day was Jennifer Escalera at 22:19 and Chloe McDaniel at 22:31. Ashley Eavenson had a 23:46, and Brooklyn Tretter a 23:53.
Gardner-Webb will have their next race in Conway, South Carolina for a meet hosted by Coastal Carolina on October 1 with a start time of 5:00 p.m.
