BOILING SPRINGS – Chattanooga picked up bonus points in four bouts Saturday night and Gardner-Webb dropped a Southern Conference home dual 37-4 in Paul Porter Arena.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (4-6, 2-2 SoCon) picked up a win at 285 pounds, with freshman Peyton McComas dominating in a 13-1 major decision.

The Mocs nationally-ranked lower weight duo of Fabian Gutierrez (125) and Brayden Palmer (133) got things off to a quick start, with Gutierrez recording a quick pin in 1:20. Palmer followed with a 9-2 decision and – after a forfeit at 141 pounds – Chattanooga held a 15-0 lead. The Mocs sandwiched a major decision at 157 between two decisions when Andrew Nicholson outlasted RJ Mosley at 165. Nicholson won the 2-1 decision after the third overtime on just three seconds of riding time.

Carial Tarter rallied late for a 4-3 decision at 174 pounds and a late pin (6:40) pushed Thomas Sell to victory at 184 pounds. Matthew Waddell finished the scoring for Chattanooga with a decision at 197 before McComas' strong performance for Gardner-Webb in the final weight class of the night.

The Runnin' Bulldogs travel to face Davidson in another SoCon road match next Friday (February 4) at 7:00 pm before returning home to host Duke on February 9 at 7:00 pm.
