Gardner-Webb Men's Golf Wraps Up Play In 2022 Elon Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, N.C. – Gardner-Webb men's golf wrapped up tournament play Tuesday afternoon at the 2022 Elon Phoenix Invitational.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished 17th at the event, which was played on the 6,867-yard (Par 71) Alamance Country Club course. Host Elon won the event, beating Stetson by five strokes.
Gardner-Webb finished 10 strokes off the pace of LaSalle, with Connor Fahey (70-74-73-217), Max White (74-70-75-219), Mark Chandler (73-78-74-225), Maddox Whittington (78-76-73-227) and Peech Bunnadodee (75-77-78-230) competing over 54 holes.
Including individuals, the tournament field consisted of 100 golfers. Elon's Garrett Risner shot 67-63-69 (199) to win medalist honors by one stroke over teammate Matt Doyle on their home course.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action for its final fall tournament October 22-23 at the Furman Intercollegiate.
