FARMVILLE, VA – The Big South Cross Country Championships were competed on Saturday morning with the women's team coming away with a Top-Five finish, the best in program history. High Point came away with the women's title while Charleston Southern won the men's.
Jessica Perriello and Amy Prugh were the top finishers for the Runnin' Bulldogs finishing with new personal bests and the new ninth and tenth-best times in program history in the 5K. Perriello crossed the line in 23
rd at 18:56 with Prugh right behind in 24
th at 18:57. Camille Sykes was next in 38
th at 20:23, a new personal best. Julia Reinboth and Teryn Bour rounded out the first five finishers for GWU. Reinboth finished in 20:58 while Bour did in 21:35. Brooklyn Tretter, Jennifer Escalera, and Bella Drewek were the next to run across the finish line. Tretter at 21:44, Escalera at 21:50, and Drewek in 23:21.
On the men's side, Gardner-Webb ended the event in 9
th place as a team. Dylan Phillips was the first finisher from GWU in 40
th overall at 26:54. Ryan Morita was the next to go across the line at 27:27 in 52
nd. Ethan Bentley ran the race in 30:01. Mark Mellon and John Marsh were the 4
th and 5
th place runners on the team with a 32:10 and 32:56. Cole Ray completed the day for the Runnin' Bulldogs with his 34:06.
The NCAA Regionals will be held on Friday, November 11 in Louisville, Kentucky at Tom Sawyer Park. The field for the event will be announced at the beginning of next month.
