Lemieux-Monette, Putter Advance to Sunday's Doubles Final

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Day Two of the Big South Individual Fall Tournament saw a Gardner-Webb doubles pair advance to Sunday's final.
The duo of 'Dogs that won was Numa Lumeiux-Monette and Victor Putter. They defeated a familiar pair of Eduardo Dias and Chrisjan Van Wyk 7-6 (4) in their semifinal. In the other semifinal, two teams from Radford had to play each other. The winning pair was Aditya Balsekar and Guilherme Severin with a score of 7-5.
In other doubles action, Kim Niethammar and John Spring won a consolation match 6-2 against a duo from Presbyterian. Also, a team from UNC Asheville defeated Cathal Butler and Alex Lepine 7-6 (6) in consolation play.
Dias was the lone Runnin' Bulldog to play in the quarterfinals of the main draw in singles. He won his second-round match 6-4, 6-1 over UNC Asheville's Tarek Erlewein. He was defeated by Konstantinos Raptis who needed a tiebreaker in the third set to edge Dias. The final score was 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (6). Spring and Lemieux-Monette were still in the main draw, but each lost their second-round matches.
In singles consolation, Niethammar won his 6-4, 5-7, 10-3 and Putter picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Rounding out the GWU performances was Connor Enslin claiming a 5-7, 6-2, 10-7 triumph over Ernesto Rocabert of Longwood.
Sunday's matches will begin at 9:00 a.m. During this slot the singles A draw semifinals, doubles final, and B draw singles will be contested. The day's action will end with the singles' main draw scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. start.
